CONFEDERATION OF CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES & WORKERS
ORGANISATION UNIFYING THE ENTIRETY OF INDIAN CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND WORKERS ON A SINGLE PLATFORM OF STRUGGLE AND ADVANCE
To

All Members of Woman’s Committee

Every year, we celebrate 8th March as International Women’s Day. This year we are celebrating this Day with great regards, love and care. I am extremely glad to be given opportunity to write a few lines on this International Women’s Day. The day celebrates every year globally on 8th March to reminding of the struggles of the earlier generations for right to equality in all spheres of life for women. We honour them for numbers of achievements of women in various fields.

This year the theme of international women’s day is “I am generation Equality; Realizing Women Rights”

“The emerging global consensus is that despite some progress, real change has been agnozingly slow for the majority of women and girls in the world. Today not a single country can claim to have achieved gender equality. Multiple obstacles remain unchanged in Law and in culture. Women and girls continue to be undervalued: they work more and earn less and have fewer choices and experience multiple forms of violence at home and in public spaces, Furthermore, there is a significant threat of rollback of hard-won feminist gains.

Empowering women is a great responsibility. It is necessary for gender equally. A society is better when women are taken for granted and are given equal respect. The generation should give values women and trust with amazing responsibility.

In our country the women are not in a secured position today. Mischief activity and malice are going on. The killings in the name of “honour” are rampant across India. The demon of dowry rules the roost. Right to properly to daughters is an anathema even today in majority parts of the country. Sexual harassment, torture and humiliation at work places are common to see in this country. Today, we must unite and stand against it.

Let’s all the vocal about it. It is time to reclaim the negative words used against women.

We see that there are some places in our country where women are not allowed to enter. It is an insult to women of the nation. Women have to fight against any type of humiliation.

Today, the present Government is creating division among human. The Government wants to sell or privatise the public establishments. It has to be stopped. The women of this nation have to come forward. We have no other option except fight to save our rights.

All our units are requested to observe International Woman’s Day with all seriousness, discussing and focusing on the issues in a befitting manner.

With greetings,

Comradely yours,

(Manisha Mazumdar)
Chair Person
