Sub: - Equal Pay for equal work for casual labourers –
request to see the orders with clarification communicated in the postal side
The DOPT Vide
its OM No. 49014/1/2017 -Estt (C ) pt dated 4.9.2019 issued orders on the basis of Supreme Court
verdict that where the nature of work entrusted to casual labourers and the
regular employees are the same, the casual workers may be paid at the rate of
1/30th of the pay at the minimum of the relevant pay scale plus
dearness allowance for work of 8 hours a day.
This order is
very specific about the eligibility of the same to the casual workers engaged
in the Postmen and MTS vacancies. These orders shall be implemented without any
ambiguity.
It is
therefore requested to issue clear cut clarification to all the circles at the
earliest possible and ensure payment as per the DOPT orders to the casual
labourers engaged in the department.
